MLB stars

Andrew McCutchen spent 13 seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ organization, the past nine playing for the team’s Major League club. He’s been the face of the franchise for the past half decade-plus.

So when news broke on Monday that Cutch had been dealt to the San Francisco Giants, it had to be a bittersweet moment for him. Sure he heads to a potential playoff contender. But 13 years in one organization is a long time.

Following the trade, McCutchen sent some warm regards to fans in the Steel City.

“Pittsburgh. My Home.My Fans.My City. The placed that raised me and helped mold me into the man I am today,” the former NL MVP wrote on Twitter. “You will 4ever be in my heart.A tip of the cap to all who have been on this journey with me. With Love and respect,
Cutch.”

McCutchen leaves the Pirates after having put up five All-Star campaigns while leading the team to three playoff appearances after a 20-plus year hiatus.

In nine seasons, he hit .291 with 203 homers while earning the NL MVP back in 2013.
