Alabama LB jokes about ISIS attending national championship

There’s this whole theory going around that people should think before they talk. For many, it’s not necessarily a novice idea. It takes a lot of work.

We can put Alabama linebacker Rashaan Evans in that category. In answering questions about his thoughts on President Trump attending the national title game against Georgia Monday night, Evans had this rather interesting take.

“Man, I figured I was going to get asked that question. To be honest with you, I just want to win,” Evans joked, via Yahoo! Sports. “I really want to win. I mean, at this point I don’t care who shows up. ISIS can show up, I don’t care. As long as we win, that’s the number one thing on my mind.”

No. Man. Just no. Don’t joke about something of this ilk. The hundreds of thousands that have been killed in the name of this terrorist group throughout the world don’t deserve this. There’s nothing funny about it.

Evans did talk about Trump himself attending the game.

“I think it is unique the fact that the president is coming to this game,” Evans said. “I think that shows you the type of caliber of game this is, the significance of it, the fact that a president is actually attending this game.”

Indeed, POTUS attending the national title proves just how big the game is. Some have questioned whether players on each team should protest the National Anthem with Trump in attendance.

It’s not yet known whether that will happen. But we can be sure that fans of both Georgia and Alabama wouldn’t be too happy if the players did just that. It’s two of the reddest states in the union.

In any event, Evans should be schooled on thinking before he talks. His mention of ISIS at a time when the terrorist organization is threatening innocent civilians here at home is not funny in the least.
