Wizards’ John Wall calls out team after latest loss

The Washington Wizards had it handed to them by one of the worst teams in the NBA Wednesday night, losing to the Atlanta Hawks, 113-99.

It represented another dreadful performance for a Wizards team that’s mired in mediocrity and has shown a ton of inconsistency this season.

For his part, All-Star John Wall is none too happy about the performance of his team. He basically indicated after the game that Washington players are simply out there for the boxscore.

“We talk about it. We say when we play these teams that are not above .500 or not one of the great teams, we go out there playing for stats,” Wall said. “It’s simple as that. We can see it. I think we all can see it when we play.”

Wall is specifically referring to a 14-point loss against a Hawks team that boasts the Association’s worst record at 9-25 on the season.

Seen by many as talented enough to contend for a conference title, the Wizards have continually played down to the level of their competition in recent seasons. That doesn’t bode well for the team’s chances to come out of the east. And Wall knows this perfectly well.
