WATCH: Tommylee Lewis’ first NFL touchdown is a dandy

When we sat down to watch the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons game Thursday night, there was an expectation that fireworks would be on display in Atlanta.

Two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks going at it. Multiple Pro Bowl running backs. A receiver in Julio Jones who is among the best in the game. A young receiver, Michael Thomas of the Saints, who might join Jones in elite company here soon.

Not a single objective person tuning into this all-important NFC South game thought it would be Tommylee Lewis who would set the fireworks off first.

But that’s exactly what happened.

With his team down 10-3 late in the second quarter, the second-year Saints receiver caught this pass from Brees and somehow made his way into the end zone for a 26-yard touchdown.

That’s both tremendous hands and balance after the catch from Lewis.

Lewis, an undrafted free agent out of Northern Illinois back in 2016, entered Thursday’s action having caught 15 passes in 23 career games. But he obviously made a major impact in front of a nationally televised audience.
