Titans’ Marcus Mariota ‘got an earful’ from his mom after ‘rude’ press conference

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota on Monday Night Football

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota wasn’t his usually happy self following Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Not only did Tennessee fall out of first place with the loss, Mariota himself suffered an injury.

The former Heisman winner is good to go for this Sunday’s game against a suddenly hot San Francisco 49ers team. But he took time out of his day on Wednesday to apologize for the way he acted towards the media following last week’s loss.

“Real quick, I want to say I am sorry for the way handled the press conference,” Mariota said, via the team’s official website. “I know not everybody that was there is here. But I was rude and inappropriate, and I just want to say I apologize for it.”

It takes a stand-up man to go up there and show remorse for his actions. Though, Mariota’s apology also had something to do with what his mother told him after the presser.

“It’s funny, because I got an earful from my mom. That’s how I was raised; I appreciate you guys,” Mariota continued.

Tongue-lashing from his mother aside, Mariota is one of the truly good guys around the NFL. As he said, he was raised right.

And as we all know, the fear of a disappointing tone from your parents will assuredly knock you down a peg. That obviously happened with Mariota here.
