Richard Sherman explains why Julian Edelman is underrated

Back in December 2017 Richard Sherman came out with a glowing reference for the now retired Julian Edelman. Below is that original report:

Originally written December 14, 2017:

In a piece for The Players’ Tribune, the Seattle Seahawks corner praised Edelman for his toughness and said he’s not a product of the New England Patriots system.

“He’s not the biggest, strongest or fastest guy, but he plays hard and he plays the game the right way. He does the dirty work. He’s blue collar, and he’s tough as nails.”

Sherman also included teammate Jermaine Kearse, Minnesota Vikings standout Stefon Diggs and two Detroit Lions receivers, Golden Tate and Marvin Jones, in his list of underrated wideouts.

Unfortunately for fans of great football, both Edelman and Sherman are watching the 2017 season from the sideline. Edelman hasn’t played a regular-season game because of a torn ACL, and a ruptured Achilles ended Sherman’s year.

But they’ve had a couple of memorable clashes, even if Sherman wasn’t specifically defending Edelman in the slot. Edelman topped 100 yards in a Super Bowl win three years ago, and he nearly reached the century mark when Seattle beat the Patriots during the 2016 regular season.

New England is 10-3 without Edelman, but Tom Brady is really going to miss the underrated target when the playoffs begin.
