New Tennessee athletic director Phillip Fulmer has not necessarily made his rounds when it comes to what has been a drawn out search to replace recently fired head coach Butch Jones.
Maybe Fulmer is playing it close to the vest after the dumpster fire that was the Vols’ head coaching search under former AD John Currie.
Now comes this report noting that Fulmer has indeed talked to former Tennessee quarterback and current USC offensive coordinator Tee Martin about the opening.
A #Vols update: #Tennessee AD Phil Fulmer and #USC OC Tee Martin have had a talk and the conversation was very positive, I'm told.

Martin was seemingly a candidate for the job prior to Fulmer assuming Tennessee’s AD duties. He’s also open to heading back to a program that he led to a national championship during his playing days in Knoxville under Fulmer.
This is the hire that would make the most sense for everyone involved. Martin and Fulmer have a relationship with one another. The latter also brings back memories of when the Volunteers were actually of national relevance. Following a 4-8 campaign, that’s obviously no longer the case.
