Late-season injuries are never good to report when it comes to Super Bowl contending teams. Unfortunately, the Los Angeles Rams had to place kicker Greg Zuerlein on IR, according to this report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Surprise setback for Super Bowl contender: Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein – aka “Legatron” – is being placed on IR with a back injury and team is signing former Penn St kicker Sam Ficken, per source.

Just as the Rams were rolling ahead at full steam, they will have to continue the show with kicker Sam Ficken on the roster.
Ficken replaces Zuerlein who has made 38 of his total 40 field goal attempts. Zuerlein also scored a league-high 44 extra points. He missed just two PATs all season.
Clearly, Zuerlein is not your average run of the mill kicker. The Rams will surely miss him as they fight to remain in first place in the NFC West.
We will see Ficken make his debut when the Rams head to Tennessee to play the Titans in Week 16.
