There has been some talk recently that the Toronto Blue Jays might be looking to move former MVP Josh Donaldson before he hits free agency following the 2019 season.
While no trade appears to be imminent, this one report suggests that the Jays and St. Louis Cardinals have talked about Donaldson at the Winter Meetings.
#STLCards have spoken with #BlueJays about Donaldson at meetings, sources tell The Athletic. No indication a deal is close. To this point, Jays seemingly bullish about keeping Donaldson, looking to add. GM Atkins mentioned Jay Bruce, CarGo as possible fits to reporters today.

This would seem to align with the thought that St. Louis is looking to add power bats. The team missed out on Giancarlo Stanton after he vetoed a trade to the Cards. Meanwhile, St. Louis is apparently favored to land Miami Marlins All-Star outfielder Marcell Ozuna.
Donaldson, 32, hit .270 with 33 homers and 78 RBI during an injury-plagued 2017 campaign up north. He’s totaled a whopping 111 homers in three seasons with the Jays since being acquired from Oakland.
Donaldson would definitely represent an upgrade over Jedd Gyorko at the hot corner in St. Louis. But it remains to be seen whether Toronto is actually willing to move the former AL MVP.
