Although sitting out practice on Friday usually signals a problem for the weekend, the Buffalo Bills aren’t concerned about LeSean McCoy.

According to Mike Rodak of ESPN, Bills coach Sean McDermott said McCoy (knee) will not practice yet also won’t be listed on the injury report.

McCoy made an unexpected appearance on the report Thursday but was labeled a full participant. Buffalo is likely being cautious with their star runner, who can afford a maintenance day this late in the season.

While it’s unlikely the 6-5 Bills would manage to catch the 9-2 New England Patriots in the AFC East even following a win Sunday, Buffalo could earn a massive victory in its pursuit of a wild card berth.

The team certainly would prefer to showcase a running back Patriots safety Duron Harmon called “scary” than try to spring an upset without McCoy.

“Trying to tackle LeSean is scary in and of itself, the guy can be running this way and all of a sudden cut and he’s going in completely the opposite,” Harmon said, per Mike Giardi of NBC Sports Boston.

In three matchups against New England as a member of the Bills, McCoy has averaged 115.7 total yards per game and scored two touchdowns.
