Jim Harbaugh takes shot at Mark Dantonio about bowl game comments

college football

Jim Harbaugh apparently is feeling a bit feisty this fine Monday morning, which is a shocking development nobody ever saw coming.

The Michigan head coach took to his favorite social media platform to take a shot at fellow Big Ten head coach Mark Dantonio for comments he made about Michigan State’s bowl placement.

On Sunday it was revealed Michigan State would be heading to San Diego for a Holiday Bowl matchup against Washington State. Meanwhile, Michigan landed a New Year’s Six Bowl bid to represent the Big Ten at the Outback Bowl against South Carolina.

“I just look at it as an opportunity to play in the Holiday Bowl right now,” Dantonio said on Sunday. “The records are what they are. I’ll just continue to concentrate on beating Michigan and let things sort of sort out.”

The Outback Bowl is clearly the more prestigious of the postseason bowls. It’s worth pointing out that the Spartans had a better overall record and better Big Ten record than the Wolverines. It’s also worth pointing out that, in Harbaugh’s three years at Michigan, he has a record of 1-2 against Dantonio’s Spartans, who won this year’s rivalry game, 14-10.

So it’s hardly surprising that Dantonio, his players and Michigan State fans are upset about this.

Just don’t tell that to Harbaugh.

There’s a bit of irony laced into this tweet, because Michigan has had its fair share of off-field issues since Harbaugh took over. In fact, his leading receiver this year, Grant Perry, pleaded guilty to a felony this past summer.

But that’s none of my business.
