Giants give rookie QB Davis Webb first-team reps

As the New York Giants close out what has been a disastrous season for the team, there’s a chance rookie signal caller Davis Webb could get some in-game reps.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan noted Wednesday that Webb received some first-team reps in practice against the Giants’ starting defense.

This comes after the Giants fired head coach Ben McAdoo in large part due to the way he handled the team’s quarterback situation — benching Eli Manning a week prior to his ousting.

But with two games remaining in a season that’s seen New York post a 2-12 record, it makes sense for the team to give Webb a cup of tea.

With that said, Webb is still expected to be inactive this week against the Arizona Cardinals.

“As of right now, no,” interim head coach Steve Spagnuolo said Wednesday in regards to Webb being active. “But who knows.”

This doesn’t mean Webb — a rookie third-round pick from CAL — won’t see action in the Giants’ season finale against Washington in Week 17.

In reality, it just makes too much sense for the Giants not to give him a quick look before the season draws to a conclusion.
