The College Football Playoff announced it is providing financial assistance to family members of players competing in the four-team playoff this upcoming January.
Each player who will be involved in the College Football Playoff is receiving a $2,500 stipend, which is to be utilized toward travel, hotel arrangements and meals as families attend either the Sugar Bowl or the Rose Bowl.
“We are delighted to continue this program for the participants of the College Football Playoff,” Bill Hancock, executive director of the College Football Playoff, said in a released statement (h/t College Football Talk). “It is a terrific benefit for our student-athletes and one the university presidents and conference commissioners who manage the playoff are proud to support.”
Per the report, the College Football Playoff doled out $1.5 million between the four playoff participants — Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Washington — to attend the Fiesta Bowl, Peach Bowl, and national championship game in January of 2017.
This year, Oklahoma and Georgia are meeting up at the Rose Bowl as the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds. Clemson and Alabama will clash for the third year in a row at the Sugar Bowl as the No. 1 and No. 4 seeds of this year’s playoff.
