WATCH: Rams have the best audibles in the NFL

Jared Goff

“Elvis, Tupac and Obama walk into a quarterback room.” It sounds like the start of a bad joke, but those three men are important to the Los Angeles Rams.

Second-year quarterback Jared Goff wore a microphone against the Houston Texans for the NFL’s “Sound FX” series, and was it ever entertaining.

While going through pre-snap checks, Goff shouted audibles of Elvis, Tupac and Obama. Other checks included “Wilson, Hoosier” and “Ric Flair.”

Best of all, the audibles seemed to have worked perfectly, since Los Angeles pounded the Texans 33-7. Goff threw for a career-high 355 yards while tossing three scores, including a 94-yard strike to Robert Woods.

The audibles are just another enjoyable part of the team’s fun season. First-year head coach Sean McVay has energized the franchise, turned the league’s worst offense into a dynamic attack and entirely changed the perception of Goff.

One year after finishing 4-12, Los Angeles stands atop the NFC West at 7-2 and seems destined for the playoffs.

As Ric Flair would say, “WHOO!”
