Carmelo Anthony and his Oklahoma City Thunder were looking to overcome a double-digit second half deficit against the Blazers in Portland on Sunday night.
By the look of this one play, Melo had pulled the team closer with driving layup and a foul against Blazers big man Jusuf Nurkic. That’s when the officials decided to call a flagrant two on Anthony, ejecting him from the game in the process.

It would not be an overreaction to say we’ve never seen anything like this on an NBA court. Where exactly was the flagrant on Anthony? And how in the heck is this even an offensive foul?
The simple fact that these officials went to replay and chatted it over with headquarters in Secaucus makes this even more troublesome. Let them play, guys.
