Tennessee dismisses star receiver after expletive-filled tirade

Tennessee football is having a rough year, and Jauan Jennings has only added to the negative headlines surrounding the program.

Wednesday, the school announced it had dismissed the receiver following his rant on Instagram saying the team’s struggles have nothing to do with the players or injuries.

The post has been deleted, but Rocky Top Insider recorded and shared the video. Jennings said the Butch Jones-led coaching staff held the Vols back. The junior wideout asserted that the coaches were only in this for the paycheck.

Tennessee released a statement from interim head coach Brady Hoke about the decision to dismiss Jennings:

“In consultation with athletic director John Currie, I have made the decision to dismiss Jauan from our program. Representing the University of Tennessee football program is a privilege.”

Jennings made a small impact as a freshman in 2015 before occupying an important role last season. He reeled in 40 passes for 580 yards and seven touchdowns, and each of those numbers ranked second on the team and earned preseason honors as a result.

Unfortunately for Jennings, his 2017 campaign ended in the season opener due to a wrist injury against Georgia Tech.

Now, the next time he takes the field it will be in a different uniform.
