Sashi Brown takes aim at media: ‘A lot of what’s been written is made up’

Sashi Brown is already one of the NFL's top general managers

Cleveland Browns Executive Vice President Sashi Brown was at the podium Monday to address some of what’s happened of late within the organization.

Among the things he discussed, Brown said now’s the time to band together, denying there’s any rift between himself and head coach Hue Jackson. He also said in no way, shape or form did he sabotage the AJ McCarron trade that fell through at the last minute between the Browns and Cincinnati Bengals.

Then he was asked about Jimmy Garoppolo. The Browns have been tied to Garoppolo since early in the offseason when it was reported they offered a huge bounty to the New England Patriots for the quarterback.

One report last week after the San Francisco 49ers landed Garoppolo in a trade indicated Brown was out of the loop and was unable to procure the quarterback for the Browns. Needless to say, he didn’t take that accusation well. In fact, he took direct aim at the media, accusing writers of fabricating stories.

We may never know exactly what happened behind the scenes. What we do know is that the Browns continue to be the league’s biggest joke, year in and year out. Since Hue Jackson took over ahead of last season, Cleveland has won just one game and is in a dogfight with the 49ers for the No. 1 overall pick in 2018.

And while it’s true Brown and Co. have positioned themselves well in the draft, we aren’t convinced they know what they’re doing with all those picks.
