Report: No sign of Matt Forte at practice

Matt Forte

Matt Forte recently put together his best performance of the season, but the New York Jets might be missing the veteran running back in Week 10.

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, there was no sign of Forte at practice Thursday. That doesn’t bode well for his chances to play Sunday.

Forte also missed Wednesday’s session due to swelling in his knee, according to Calvin Watkins of Newsday.

In Week 9, Forte notched season-highs of 14 carries, 77 yards and two touchdowns, adding four catches for 19 yards. He hadn’t reached the end zone before that victory over the Buffalo Bills but seemed to take control of the New York backfield.

Instead, the Jets will turn to Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire heading into a matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Powell — who collected 163 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this season — would likely receive the majority of snaps and touches.

Forte already missed two games in 2017 due to a toe injury.
