New Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin inactive Thursday

Acquired from the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday, new Buffalo Bills wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin will be inactive for Thursday’s game against the New York Jets.

It’s somewhat of a surprise given that Buffalo brought Benjamin on as much for this season as for the future. The team currently sits at 5-2 and is tied with New England in the loss column in the AFC East heading into Week 9.

This is probably a case of the Bills deciding that Benjamin is not yet up to date on the playbook. Considering Thursday’s game kicks off just over 48 hours after he was acquired, that makes a ton of sense.

Once Benjamin does take to the field for his team, he’ll be a starter opposite Jordan Matthews. The former first-round pick recorded recorded 32 receptions for 475 yards for Carolina prior to being shipped off to Buffalo earlier in the week.
