Detroit Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones has been singing since he was four years old. Outside of football, it’s a major passion of his. Jones just recently took this passion and tried out for American Idol, which is returning after a multi-year absense.
Trying out in front of judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, Jones sand I Can’t Make You Love Me by Tank
Obviously, he was a pretty big hit here.
One judge wanted to know if they were being punked. Perry asked Jones why he didn’t pursue a career in music instead of football, at which point Bryant said it’s because he 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds.
We have to hand it to Jones for putting himself out there. His teammates had no idea about his singing ability prior to this audition. They’ll surely be letting him know moving forward.
