Eli Manning: Losing so much ‘can wear you out’

Eli Manning

The New York Giants were throttled on Thanksgiving Day by NFC East rival Washington, meaning they have still won just two games this year. Eli Manning, a two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback who has never missed a start in his career, is getting weary of this frustrating trend.

When asked afterward if he was feeling worn out, Manning didn’t deny it.

“Yeah, yeah, it definitely does,” Manning said, via the New York Post. “It’s no fun losing, it’s no fun not scoring enough points offensively, so yeah, it can wear you out. It’ll test you, but just gotta keep going to the drawing board and find ways to play better and move the ball and score some points.”

Manning hasn’t had much help this year. The offense has been decimated by injuries at the skill positions. The defense has been much more vulnerable compared to last year. And Manning himself hasn’t been all that great even when he’s had time to throw.

During Thursday’s loss to Washington, Manning completed just 48 percent of his passes for 113 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. On the season, he’s thrown just 14 touchdowns in 11 games, and the Giants are averaging just 15.6 points per game.
