Devonta Freeman ruled out with concussion for second straight week

Devonta Freeman

Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman has officially been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This marks the second straight weekend that Freeman has been ruled out due to the concussion he suffered in Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys. It was the second concussion the running back has been afflicted with this year, and it’s his third going back to November of 2015. So it’s not surprising that it’s taking a while for him to be cleared.

Freeman has rushed for 515 yards and five touchdowns this year, averaging 4.4 yards per carry. He inked a huge contract extension before this season and, if he can stay healthy, is expected to be a big part of what the Falcons are doing offensively in the years to come.
