Dak Prescott: No finger-pointing on Cowboys offense

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in NFL Week 2

The Dallas Cowboys are sliding the wrong direction, but quarterback Dak Prescott says the offense isn’t blaming any one particular person.

After the 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, Matthew Martinez of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram noted Prescott said he’ll try to discover the fixes and snap their skid.

“The last thing I am doing is pointing a finger and saying we need this guy or we need that to happen. We just have to figure out what is going on and get out of this funk.”

This three-game skid is the definition of a funk, indeed.

Through the team’s 11 outings this season, the three lowest offensive yardage outputs have happened in the last three contests. Dallas managed 247 yards against the Chargers, 233 in a 27-7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons and 225 in a 37-9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Prescott has tossed five interceptions while totaling a single rushing touchdown, so he’s not at all immune to the struggles.

During that Thanksgiving loss, the Cowboys reached 10 straight quarters without scoring a touchdown — a franchise record. Additionally, according to Martinez, Dallas also set a futility mark for failing to hit 10 points in three straight games.

In the meantime, the Cowboys have slipped from 5-3 and a playoff contender to 5-6 and — most likely — two games behind in the Wild Card race. If they don’t shake the losing streak quickly, the postseason isn’t going to include Dallas.
