Chargers’ Casey Hayward’s brother killed in car accident

Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Casey Hayward and his family are in our thoughts after a tragedy in Georgia took the life of his younger brother, Jecaives.

According to WMAZ in Georgia, the 27-year-old Jecaives was killed after being thrown from his vehicle following an accident on I-75 Monday evening.

“The Fort Valley man was a passenger in a 2011 Toyota Camry that struck a tractor trailer in the emergency lane on the highway,” the report read. “He was pronounced dead at the scene.”

A native of Georgia, Hayward remains close with his family. A tight knit group, Jecaives spent Thanksgiving with his father, Casey Sr. and family, in Georgia this past week watching the Chargers’ corner play Dallas.

The older Hayward opened up about his now deceased younger son.

“He left a little early,” Hayward Sr. said. “He said ‘I’m gone, pop.’ We told each other ‘I love you.’ That was the last time I saw him.”

Our thoughts go out to the entire Hayward family, Casey himself and the Los Angeles Chargers during these most difficult of times.
