Bruce Arians gives brutally honest critique of Blaine Gabbert

Cardinals quarterbacks Carson Palmer and Blaine Gabbert

The Arizona Cardinals are down to third-string quarterback Blaine Gabbert, who will suit up and start in Week 11. It is not a secret that Gabbert has gotten a bad rap throughout his seven-year NFL career.

Signed on by the Cardinals back in May, Gabbert has the support of head coach Bruce Arians. Arians responded with this brutally honest quote when asked about Gabbert’s reputation.

“He was on really sh***y teams, Arians said, per ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss.”

Arians spares no harshness here, obviously calling out the Jacksonville Jaguars and San Francisco 49ers. Gabbert was the 10th overall pick of the Jags in 2011. Throughout his three seasons with the Jags, Gabbert played in 28 games. During that stretch, the Jags won just 11 games.

Switching teams to the 49ers, the team won 15 games during Gabbert’s three seasons in San Francisco. Gabbert played in a total of 15 games along the way.

Now it is time for Gabbert to step up and make Arians proud. It was just in August that Arians said Gabbert has the talent to be a starter in the NFL. We will see soon enough if that appears to be true.
