Bengals OT Jake Fisher out with irregular heartbeat

Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Jake Fisher was sent to the hospital during Week 9’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. At that point, there was no indication one way or another what was impacting the former second-round pick.

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis now has an update on the situation. And it’s not good. Lewis told Sirius XM NFL Radio Thursday morning that Fisher is dealing with an irregular heartbeat and will undergo surgery to fix the issue. He’s out for the remainder of the season.

It’s scary situation for both Fisher and the Bengals. It’s also pretty obvious that football is the least of anyone’s concerns right now. Instead, the hope is that said procedure goes well and there’s no complications.

Fisher was a second-round pick out of Oregon back in 2015. He’s started seven of eight games thus far this season and was expected to be a linchpin on Cincinnati’s rebuilt offensive line.
