Aaron Judge undergoes successful shoulder surgery

Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge

Aaron Judge underwent left shoulder surgery on Monday. The good news is that the New York Yankees’ star is expected to be ready before spring training.

These sort of surgeries tend to be relatively minor, especially when they happen early in the offseason. There’s no reason to think that Judge won’t be as good as new when the regular season starts. While opposing pitchers may not be especially excited about that, it’s good news for just about everyone else.

Judge had a historic rookie campaign. He hit 52 home runs, breaking the previous rookie record which had stood for 30 years. In addition to the home runs, Judge also scored 128 home runs, drove in 114, slashed at .284/.422/.627, unanimously won the American League Rookie of the Year, finished second in AL MVP voting, and won the Home Run Derby.

Additionally, Judge had baseball’s top selling jersey and became MLB’s most marketable player.
