Yasiel Puig pays tribute to deceased Las Vegas shooting victim

Laura Shipp was a fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers whose life was tragically and suddenly cut short in the Las Vegas massacre. Dodgers’ right fielder Yasiel Puig found a way to pay tribute to the victim and her family.

“We’re told Puig heard about Laura’s story and last night decided to do something for her son Corey — a Marine reservist,” TMZ Sports reported. “He autographed a baseball with a message for Laura. He wrote, “To Laura, RIP” and added his signature. We’re told the ball will be delivered to Corey today before Game 6 begins.”

There’s really not much more to add except this. Well done, Yasiel.

The significance of this gesture goes well beyond anything that will happen in the World Series. And it provides a young man with at least some comfort during the most difficult of times.
