Report: Two 49ers LBs fend off armed robbers

Reuben Foster

There’s most definitely some shady areas of Washington D.C. Two San Francisco 49ers linebackers, Reuben Foster and Ray-Ray Armstrong, found this out first hand early Monday morning after their game against the Washington Redskins.

The two were in attendance at the Love and Propaganda night club when they noticed a car apparently casing the area. That’s when Foster, a rookie first-round pick from Alabama, indicated that he felt he was going to be robbed, via Mission Local in San Francisco.

According to the report, Foster and Armstrong would ultimately hand their valuables to a friend in the club and ask a security officer to escort them and two friends to their car.

“Despite the presence of the guard, the players claim the Audi driver was undeterred, pulling up in close proximity to them,” the report read. “Two masked men wearing white hoodies emerged, carrying an assault rifle and a handgun, respectively. The police report states the would-be robbers pointed their guns at the four men.”

The four men then turned and “ran like hell” before the would-be robbers fled the area.

“Veteran police officers praised Foster and Armstrong for their quick thinking. ‘They did the right thing,” said an SFPD veteran. ‘They were smart enough to have the security guard escort them to their car. But you don’t want to take on [high-powered weaponry]. Better to get out of there,’ the report continued.”

Luckily for Foster, Armstrong and others at the scene of the potential crime, no one was injured. Immediate inquiries to the 49ers were not answered specially. Instead, the team said it was looking into the situation at hand.
