REPORT: Mularkey says Mariota now ‘day-to-day’

There’s good news out of Nashville as Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota could be ready to play as soon as next Monday night. Mariota injured his hamstring in Week 4 and was expected to miss two-to-four weeks according to an NFL Network report.

However, today head coach Mike Mularkey provided this update on his quarterback’s return.

“You can listen to NFL Network or you can listen to me,” Mularkey said, via Jason Wolf the Nashville Tennessean. “When I say day-to-day, I tell you like it is.”

The Titans could certainly benefit from Mariota returning sooner rather than later after losing to the Miami Dolphins 16-10 on Sunday. In Mariota’s absence, Matt Cassell started and completed 21-of-32 passes for 141 yards and one touchdown. If that wasn’t bad enough, the Titans gained only 69 total yard rushing on the day.

If Mariota is able to play in Week 6, he’s helped with an extra day of rest as the Titans host the Indianapolis Colts for Monday Night Football on October 16th. Both teams have a record of 2-3 within the AFC South, with the Jaguars leading the division.
