Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams had an MRI Thursday on his injured knee and got some good news from the doctors afterwards. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Williams will not require surgery and could play as early as Week 6, after the team’s bye.
After his MRI, #Redskins LT Trent Williams is considered week-to-week with a patella issue, source said. No surgery. Chance he plays Week 6.

This is the best possible news for Williams and the Redskins. One of the top left tackles in all of football, he’s a big reason why Kirk Cousins is successful in the passing game and is a road grader for the team’s running game.
Williams has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career, however. The former No. 4 overall pick has missed 15 games since 2010, when he was selected by Washington out of Oklahoma.
