Paul George: Going against Kristaps Porzingis is ‘like guarding Durant’

Kristaps Porzingis is a name to watch as NBA trades go down

The Oklahoma City Thunder will open their season on Thursday against the New York Knicks. When asked about potentially guarding Kristaps Porzingis, Oklahoma City forward Paul George threw some rather lofty praise towards the Knicks star.

There are certainly some similarities. Like Kevin Durant, Porzingis is a seven-footer with range and athletic ability. So, he can shoot over most guards and blow by most forwards.

With that said, Porzingis’ offensive game is not nearly as refined. He’s certainly capable of having a big night. But Durant gives a genuine feeling that he can go for 40 or more on nearly every night, regardless of the opponent. Porzingis doesn’t quite have that yet.

Still, hearing someone as respected as George heaping that kind of praise will only help Porzingis’ confidence. It’s a definite sign that defenders don’t relish going against him.
