Packers’ Brett Hundley: ‘I want to be a Hall of Famer’

Brett Hundley makes his first start in NFL Week 7

Slated to take over under center for the remainder of the season after former MVP Aaron Rodgers suffered a broken collarbone last week, Brett Hundley’s first NFL start will come Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

The UCLA product doesn’t seem to be lacking much in the confidence area heading into his first start as a pro.

“I’ve been doing this my whole life,” Hundley said, via ESPN. “Aaron’s a Hall of Famer, and I want to be a Hall of Famer one day.

That’s definitely a good stance for Hundley to take. Sure the Packers are in a world of hurt without their stater and team captain. But Hundley isn’t going to head into his first start believing he can’t pick up the slack.

“I will lead this team. We’re all going to have fun, we’re all going to go out there and play football,” the young quarterback continued. “It’s still football at the end of the day, and our goals are still in front of us.”

Hundley, a fifth-round pick back in 2015, had thrown one career regular season pass before being thrown into the fire on the road against the Vikings last week. He responded by throwing three interceptions in a 23-10 loss.

But with an entire week of practice with the first team and a playbook that likely fits his skills, the hope here is that Hundley will be able to hold down the fort. Green Bay heads into Week 7 with a 4-2 record and tied for first place in the NFC North.
