Jameis Winston on Sunday: ‘My thought process is to play’

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston suffered an AC sprain in his throwing shoulder in his team’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals last week.

The injury itself sidelined Winston for the remainder of the game after he suffered it in the first half. With Winston out of action, backup Ryan Fitzpatrick nearly led the Bucs to a monumental comeback. Now, with the team’s Week 7 game just a few days away, we’re not 100 percent sure who will be under center

At the time the injury was announced, the thought process was that Winston would be able to play through the pain. But he did not throw on Wednesday, leading some to believe the former No. 1 pick might miss at least one game.

Not so fast. In talking about his availability for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, Winston seems confidence that he will be under center.

For their part, the Buccaneers also expect Winston to be on hand to throw in practice on Thursday.

“Buccaneers offensive coordinator Todd Monken said during a press conference that Winston is feeling well and the team expects him to throw when the team practices later in the day,” Pro Football Talk reported.

Winston’s availability for this game is big in that it comes with the Buccaneers at 2-3 on the season and in last place in the AFC South. The team will also be taking on a Bills defense that has yielded just two touchdown passes compared to eight interceptions on the season.
