Crickets for dinner? Hawks giving you that option

Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks are stepping out with a bold new menu item for fans attending upcoming games and looking for a culinary thrill — crickets.

No, you did not read that wrong. That’s not a typo.

Crickets.

“We did an internal taste test and people really loved them,” said Robert DiCicco, vice president of hospitality and strategy at Phillips Arena, per Darren Rovell of ESPN. “As part of transforming our concessions experience, we want to give people the chance to try something here that they normally wouldn’t consider.”

It’s worth pointing out that the Seattle Mariners sold grasshoppers this past season at home games, and actually sold out of that exotic item.

Yummy! Get in my tummy!

Or not.

If you’re interested in trying out this treat, the Hawks are starting to sell them Friday during their home opener against the Denver Nuggets. Though, they’ll cost you — $4.50 for one ounce of flavored insect.
