Former teammate on Andrew Luck: ‘He’s not close, in my mind’

Andrew Luck

While most recent news has indicated that Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck could be returning relatively quickly, one former teammate sees it another way.

Speaking on ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown” ahead of the Colts’ “Monday Night Football” game against the Tennessee Titans, Matt Hasselbeck said that in his opinion, Luck is “not close.”

Luck has already been ruled out of the Colts’ Week 7 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Indianapolis is in a tricky spot. While only 2-3, the Colts enter Monday’s game only one-half game out of the AFC South lead. Through six weeks, the division has shown itself to be wide open.

While Hasselbeck is not a doctor, comments from a former NFL quarterback who knows Luck personally should be taken seriously.

Luck is the franchise player. After two years of playing through injuries, he can’t be rushed back. This is true even if leaving him on the bench costs the team a playoff spot. Risking Luck could cripple his (and the team’s) future in a big way.
