If the hurricane season has not been bad enough for Florida State football, there’s a decent chance that their upcoming game against Miami (F) could be at risk.
Florida State is now monitoring Tropical Storm Nate ahead of this weekend’s game against Miami.
“We are monitoring the tropical storm and will continue to do so throughout the week,” a Florida State official said Wednesday, via the Orlando Sentinel.
At this point, it’s too early to tell whether the game itself could be at risk. That determination will come as soon as forecasts can more accurately predict the future path of the tropical storm.
Florida State had to previously cancel a game against Louisiana-Monroe and postponed its game against Miami due to Hurricane Irma last month. Needless to say, any change to Saturday’s game would be a big deal. The Seminoles and Hurricanes were able to postpone to this weekend because both teams had a bye. That obviously won’t be the case moving forward.
After starting the season ranked No. 3 in the nation, Florida State has lost two of its first three games. It’s also without the team’s starting quarterback for the remainder of the season.
And while the devastation we’ve seen during hurricane season has impacted much more important elements of American society than football, it does appear that the Seminoles season might be defined by said devastation.
