The Portland Trail Blazers will be without shooting guard CJ McCollum for their first game of the season. The NBA announced it has suspended him one game due to McCollum leaving the bench during an altercation Wednesday against the Phoenix Suns.

Interestingly, the Blazers’ first game comes against the same team, as Portland opens the 2017-18 NBA season on the road in Phoenix next Wednesday night.

McCollum will not be paid while on this one-game suspension. Set to make just under $24 million this year, this means the financial ramifications for McCollum having left the bench during a preseason altercation will come out to around $292,000.

Ouch.
