Washington State offers free tickets to those impacted by school shooting

An annual laughingstock around the college football world in recent years, the Washington State football program in Pullman is currently on the upswing. Owners of a 3-0 record, the Cougars are ranked 18th in the Associated Press poll.

The program itself is also doing some good in its community in the lead up to its game against Nevada this upcoming Sunday. Washington State has decided to offer up free tickets to those impacted by the senseless shooting at the local Freeman High School last week.

“Washington State University has invited all friends and family of the Freeman community to the Cougar football game on September 24,” a local CBS News affiliate reported on Wednesday. “All you need to get into the game for free is your driver’s license, student ID, staff ID or any other form of identification that will identify you as a community member.”

One person was killed in the shooting perpetrated by 15-year-old Caleb Sharpe. He’s facing first-degree murder charges.

It’s great to see a university within the community come together to help those impacted by the tragedy. If for only one day, maybe they can regain some sense of normalcy.
