Von Miller: Trevor Siemian “has that Peyton Manning vibe”

In the latest edition of teammates expressing full confidence in fringe starters, Von Miller has compared Trevor Siemian to an NFL legend.

Miller, while appearing on PFT Live, said Siemian has been giving off a Peyton Manning-like feeling since succeeding the future Hall of Famer.

“We’ve been saying it for a long time, we said it last year. Him seeing the way it’s done, he just has that Peyton Manning vibe — he kind of looks like Peyton Manning too. It’s great to have that energy from Trevor in the locker room and on the football field. I trust him in everything, our whole organization trusts him. He’s looking 10 times better than he did last year and he did a lot of great stuff for us last year.”

Showing the team fully supports Siemian is great. Denver needs the second-year starter to stay confident and lead the offense.

But saying he’s like Manning? Siemian, who was on the roster for the organization’s Super Bowl-winning season with Manning, must have an impressive set of intangibles the public doesn’t see.

The Northwestern product completed 59.5 percent of his passes for 3,401 yards, 18 touchdowns and four interceptions last year. After surging to a 6-2 start with 24.3 points per game, though, the Broncos dropped five of their final eight outings while averaging just 17.4 points.

Now, Siemian is a fine quarterback, and he’s clearly Denver’s best option since 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch continues to struggle and Brock Osweiler just returned to Mile High.

But let’s hold off on comparing him to Peyton just yet.
