Report: Teddy Bridgewater could play in 2017, will start on PUP list

Teddy Bridgewater

The future of Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s NFL career is still very much in the air. He’s expected to remain on the PUP to start the season, per a report. But the Vikings have reportedly not ruled Bridgewater out from playing this season, which is very encouraging.

Bridgewater is doing everything he can rehabilitation-wise to play professional football again. He is making tremendous leaps in his recovery from that devastating knee injury he suffered before the start of the 2016 regular season.

Quarterback Sam Bradford will of course start the season behind center. But it will be worth monitoring Bridgewater over the upcoming weeks. If he does indeed gain medical clearance to play it will be interesting to see how the Vikings proceed.

By Week 6, Bradford will hopefully be in mid-season form. If he is not and Bridgewater is able to play, that will present an intriguing situation.

The best news possible would be that Bridgewater receives a clean bill of health even is he remains Bradford’s designated backup the rest of the year.
