Not surprisingly, the NFL has fined Odell Beckham Jr. for pretending to pee like a dog following his first of two touchdowns in Week 3.
According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, the league slapped OBJ with a $12,154 fine for the unsportsmanlike celebration. After the game, a defiant Beckham Jr. said, “I’m a dog, so I acted like a dog. I don’t know if the rulebook said you can’t hike your leg. He said I peed on somebody, so I was trying to find the imaginary ghost that I peed on. But I didn’t see him.”
Giants co-owner John Mara was predictably furious with his receiver for the move and had words with Beckham Jr. about it.
Needless to say, the NFL has made its opinion known on the matter now.
Beckham Jr.’s two touchdowns last Sunday were his first two scores of the campaign. Now that his ankle appears to be healing up nicely, we look forward to watching him continue to push the envelope with his creative celebratory actions as the season progresses. Assuming the Giants can get back to their scoring ways, of course.
