CFL considering whether to allow Johnny Manziel to sign with Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Johnny Manziel

Johnny Manziel and his representatives have forced the hand of the Canadian Football League. It is now debating whether to allow the former NFL quarterback to sign with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, or any other CFL team. This is happening because Manziel’s representatives recently activated the 10-day window for the Tiger-Cats to either sign, trade or release him.

The CFL issued a statement Friday in which it acknowledged it is considering whether to allow the Tiger-Cats to sign Manziel.

The organization recently worked Manziel out but reportedly came to the conclusion he was unfit both mentally and physically to play.

The Tiger-Cats never removed Manziel from their negotiation list, so he’s still technically their baby.

This is an interesting situation that will go a long way to determining what, if any, future Manziel might still have as a professional football player. He received no real interest from NFL teams this offseason after making it clear he wants to renew his football career. If a CFL team won’t even touch him because of his checkered past, then it seems unlikely the former Texas A&M and Cleveland Browns quarterback will get another chance in the NFL.
