Several Texans players stuck in Houston due to flood

There are a handful of Houston Texans players that remain stuck in the city following the devastating Hurricane Harvey. These players, primarily injured, didn’t make the trip with the Texans to their game against the Saints in New Orleans last week.

They’re now stranded in Houston, some of them having to relocate from flooded homes.

“We’ve stayed in touch with everybody two or three times a day to reach them,” Texans coach Bill O’Brien said. “Sometimes, the issue is the cell service, not being able to reach them on their phone,” Texans head coach Bill O’Brien said, via the Houston Chronicle. “We’re doing the best we can. I don’t want to mention specific names. Some guys are in areas that have been hit harder than other areas. Some guys, we were able to move to the Holiday Inn across from the stadium.”

Among those currently unable to leave Houston are starting receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller. Neither made the trip to New Orleans last week and won’t be on hand in Dallas on Thursday.

The aftermath of Hurricane Harvey has created flooding on a scale we have never seen before.

As some of his teammates remain stranded, Texans defensive end J.J. Watt is doing what he can to help with what promises to be a lengthy rebuild in Houston (more on that here).

As of Wednesday morning, Watt had raised over $5 million for relief efforts in the city.

As it relates to the Texans’ players currently stranded in Houston, it seems each and every one of them is safe. That’s most definitely good news.
