The Dallas Cowboys will take part in their second preseason game this weekend, at which point the defending NFC East champs might know the status of one Ezekiel Elliott.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, a ruling on whether Elliott will be suspended could come as early as Friday.

The Cowboys themselves have been waiting on pins and needles to find out whether the second-year running back will be suspended following an allegation of domestic violence.
While Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doesn’t think a suspension is coming, other reports suggest that Elliott himself could face a small ban to start the regular season.
Any suspension surrounding Elliott would have wide-ranging ramifications for the Cowboys. As a rookie last season, he tallied nearly 2,000 total yards en route to earning All-Pro honors.
If the NFL does indeed decide to suspend Elliott, it wouldn’t be a surprise if it came down Friday afternoon. The league loves to drop bombshells like this heading into the weekend.
