Report: Leonard Fournette remains sidelined with foot injury

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Leonard Fournette

The Jacksonville Jaguars will play their third preseason game without Leonard Fournette, who’s still dealing with a foot injury.

This means that Fournette will miss at least two weeks of work, per Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com.

Though Fournette has said he’ll be ready for the regular season, this is more bad news for a team that features a fractured offense. Blake Bortles and Chad Henne are actively engaged in what can only be described as a battle of the un-fittest. Bortles might legitimately be done in Jacksonville if he doesn’t figure out how to be an NFL quarterback this summer.

Without Fournette last week, Jacksonville’s running game fell apart. They ran for just 57 yards on 20 carries as a team, scoring no touchdowns.

In his first preseason game before getting injured, Fournette scored at the goal line and ran tough between the tackles for 31 yards on nine carries. He dealt with ankle injuries in college but says this is not the same injury. Time will tell. If he does miss regular-season games it will not bode well for the Jaguars, or their rookie running back.
