Former Cowboys star Terrell Owens has some words of advice for Ezekiel Elliott

Ezekiel Elliott

Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens chimed in on the domestic violence situation that has impacted current Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott. For Owens, who was a malcontent and seen as immature during his playing days, his words of advise makes perfect sense.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, Owens opened up about Elliott’s suspension and what the young running back needs to do moving forward.

“They should know better at this point, you know. Especially, this should be a learning lesson for him (Elliott). But it’s unfortunate what has transpired,” Owens said, via TMZ Sports. “Again, guys that are coming behind him and guys that are playing in the league now — they should definitely use it as a lesson to learn from.”

That’s not necessarily a bad piece of advice from a former player that had his fair share of on and off-field issues during his playing days.

It’s what Owens says next that should be considered a surprise.

“At the end of the day — no disrespect to women — but there’s a million women in this world,” Owens continued. “Don’t get caught up in certain situations like that.”

Regardless of whether Elliott is innocent — as presumed in America’s justice system — he did put himself in this “unfortunate situation,” as Owens says.

Elliott has been suspended six games by the NFL for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. It’s a suspension he will appeal here soon. But the young man needs to find a way to mature off the field. That’s Owens’ primary point. And he’s not wrong.
