Dolphins starting CB Tony Lippett lost for season with torn Achilles

The Miami Dolphins have lost starting CB Tony Lippett for the season.

Already without starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill for the season, the Miami Dolphins were dealt  another major blow to their playoff chances on Tuesday.

The team announced that starting cornerback Tony Lippettt will miss the entire 2017 campaign due to a torn Achilles.

“The Dolphins have taken another injury hit, with cornerback Tony Lippett out for the season because of a torn Achilles’ tendon,” the team announced, via it’s official website.

Lippett, a third-year pro from Michigan State, started 13 games for the Dolphins as a sophomore last season. He recorded 68 tackles, 10 passes defended and four interceptions in a breakout performance for the team. More than that, Lippett played 75 percent of the Dolphins’ defensive snaps last season.

With the youngster lost for the season, we can fully expect Miami to hit the free agent market for a potential replacement. Though, there’s not a single player on the market that can come in and contribute in a mannner the Dolphins expected from Lippett prior to his injury.
