DeMarcus Cousins on playing the Kings: ‘Oh, my God. I can’t wait’

DeMarcus Cousins trade

DeMarcus Cousins’ up-and-down tenure with the Sacramento Kings ended in February on a highly bitter note after he was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans.

While Cousins did play the Kings in New Orleans following the trade, he has yet to return to California’s capital city. That will obviously change this upcoming season.

For his part, the highly enigmatic center simply can’t wait to make that return trip to play in his old stomping grounds.

“I can’t wait. Oh, my God. I can’t wait. I’m praying it’s the first game. I just got a lot to get off my chest. I can’t wait,” Cousins said about playing in Sacramento, via The Undefeated.

We’re not sure what type of a reaction Cousins will receive from fans in Sacramento. On one hand, he was the face of the franchise for his six-plus seasons with the team. On the other hand, Cousins’ on-court conduct and issues with the front office painted him in a bad light.

Neither Sacramento nor New Orleans are expected to vie for a conference title this upcoming season. But both teams are vastly improved from their lottery status last year. It could make for a rather interesting rivalry in 2017-18.
