Chargers fire equipment manager after 39 years and relocation to Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Chargers’ PR department has taken major hits since the team announced its relocation from San Diego early this year. It started with the failed attempt at a new logo — one that the team scratched after negative feedback.

But this latest story out of Carson is pretty darn disgusting.

The Chargers have reportedly fired long-time equipment manager Bob Wick after he spent 39 years with the team and followed it to Los Angeles.

According to the Bernie Wilson of the Associated Press, no reason was given for the firing.

That’s just about as cold as it gets. We know this is a business, but nearly four decades of commitment should have been met with more than a pink slip. That’s only magnified by the fact that Wick relocated with the team from San Diego — a place he had been calling home for 39 years.

For shame.
